The best spot for snorkeling is at the Palace property. Lots of reef right off the beach if you like to snorkel. Not much seaweed at all and water was very clear. We loved the paved pathway along the beach to visit the other properties. The other properties are also very well kept and beautiful. Not much enthusiasm or engaging by some but they were very accommodating…just not very engaging. All of the ocean front rooms have amazing views.įriendliness of staff was a mix of good to average. We did reject the first room they put us in cause it had a stale/musty smell to it but the room they moved us to was much better/no smell. The adults only property was very nice/new, very clean, well kept. My only other minor negative is that they cap the room air conditioning at 21.5C (70.7F) which was warmer than I am generally comfortable sleeping. Thankfully, this room was MUCH quieter than the first. After two extremely restless nights, I spoke to the staff and they were able to move us to a new room at the far end of the resort. From about 10:30pm until midnight every night there is BLARING music in the lobby (which is open air) that makes it impossible to sleep. Our room was on the top (fifth) floor above the lobby (which is on the second floor). For my negatives - By far the biggest negative at this resort was the noise. Food is decent for an all-inclusive - not amazing, but not bad. The beds are huge - much larger than a standard king. It was also extremely spacious and even had two bathrooms. The room was beautiful, with stunning views of the pool and the ocean. When we arrived, we got a free upgrade to a beach side suite. Overall, we were highly satisfied and would definitely recommend this resort to others.įirst, the good - We had booked a standard room with a garden view. Now that we know more about the resort, we definitely want to plan another trip here soon but for more days! 3 days is NOT long enough. The hotel staff doesn’t tell you up front about a lot as far as activities and things to do. The one thing we did find lacking was the fact that we had to ask a lot of questions. Out of the different hotel pools, the adults only was our favorite. There are plenty of chairs and shade from the palm trees. We ate at Agave’s taco bar the second night and it was delicious! On the third night, we ate at La Comedie. We ate at the Brazilian restaurant: Rodizio the first night. We had a limited choice since many restaurants were already booked with reservations. We stopped at guest services first to make reservations for our dinners. However we were still able to use the amenities in the meantime. We did have to leave our luggage and wait for our room. This resort was absolutely stunning! My boyfriend and I arrived around 1:00 and we were greeted at the front desk with welcoming drinks. ![]() If you prefer a large resort like the Barcelo, I would first call ahead to see if there is a convention booked for your preferred stay, If so, you may want to book elsewhere. It seemed that many of the restaurants would be closed on a nightly basis, which limited your choices and availability of reservation times. Also during our stay, we found it very difficult to reserve early evening seating at any of the choice of A la carte restaurants. For whatever reason there not allowed to take bottles of stocked alcohol from one bar to another in the event of a shortage. On several occasions, the bars would run short of certain alcohol mixes, and wouldn't be restocked till the following day. There food selections were always plentiful, where ours was hit and miss. Half of the buffet area in the adults section was closed off, and only accessible to those in the convention. The staff and food services seemed to cater to the conventioneers, over the paying vacationers. Our most recent visit (16 days in February) was a real eye opener, as there was a large convention happening during part of our stay. It now includes an indoor mall, and large Convention Center. We have stayed at the Barcelo many times over the years, including getting married here 12 years ago. If you signed up for the adults only section, you will have access to entire property and all that it has to offer. This complex is made up of several different sections.
